The moment I discovered that this story was about the disappearance of a five-year-old sister named Ellie, I was ready to close the book and move on to something lighter and happier. But I forged ahead, basing my decision on the glowing reviews I had read for this novel. I am thankful I did! Ward has the ability of creating a wonderfully moving story, a dynamic and intriguing plot and gorgeous prose, all tightly wrapped up in a fantastic novel.  The story is told from the point of view of Ellie’s older sister Caroline, fifteen years after her sister’s disappearance. After Caroline sees a photograph in People Magazine of a girl who resembles her sister, she goes on a hunt to bring her sister back home. What she finds on her journey is astounding, frightening and yet uplifting. This is a book not to be missed!
