A Hopeless Romantic

A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans

A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans

Downtown Press, October 2007

Laura Foster, the charming protagonist of Harriet Evans second novel, believes she has spent too much time dreaming of romance. When she is betrayed once again by a man she loved, she decides it is time to throw away all of her romantic dreams and change her life. Laura takes an unexpected trip with her family while she contemplates the current (disastrous) state of her life. It is during this summer vacation that Laura begins to discover what really matters and learns that changing her optimistic nature is not the answer.

The plot is enjoyably compelling and what makes this book truly shine is in the vivid characters that Evans creates. Laura is an intelligent, sympathetic and unique character. Evans is going to join the ranks of such beloved romantic comedy writers as Marian Keyes, Cathy Kelly and Sophie Kinsella. Evans creates characters that come alive on the page and her stories are wonderful glimpses into authentic and interesting lives. We look forward to all of Harriet Evans future work!
