Love is hard enough but what if your true love is dead and stuck in limbo between life and death due to a clerical error? That is the concept of this funny, charming debut novel, The Regrets from novelist Amy Bonnaffons. Bonnaffons is the author of the short story collection, The Wrong Heaven, a surreal collection in the vein of Karen Russell, George Saunders and Kelly Link.

The Regrets centers on Thomas who is on a 90-day furlough to the other side and must not get involved with any living people. The problem is that he is falling for Rachel, a charming librarian. Holes start appearing in Thomas’ body as his time on earth is coming to an end. This is a sexy. witty, sad and enchanting novel not be missed.
