Beloved author Judy Blume has undergone a mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. The author of Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret as well as dozens of other well-loved young adult and adult novels took to her blog to write about her health issues.
“I’ve never smoked, I exercise every day, forget alcohol – it’s bad for my reflux – I’ve been the same weight my whole adult life. How is this possible? Well, guess what – it’s possible,” Blume detailed on her blog. The surgery was performed on July 30, six weeks after her diagnosis. “This surgery went well, one night in the hospital, very little pain.” Blume said that her husband, family and friends have been very supportive. Over 80 million copies of Blume’s books have been sold and she is one of the most well-recognized author’s today. We at Bookfinds wish her a speedy recovery and send our thoughts and prayers.
