Summary:

Most women dream of finding the love of their life. Lucy just wants to lose him…

Venice, one of the world’s most romantic cities, lives by the legend of the bridge of sighs: When a woman kisses the man of her dreams under the bridge at sunset, she will be together with him forever. So eighteen-year-old Lucy seals her fate in the blush of first love with Nate.

Yet ten years later, the pair has completely lost contact-until the day Lucy arrives at Nate’s luxury Manhattan apartment with paintings he has purchased from the gallery where she is newly employed. The legend has reunited the couple, and Lucy is overjoyed-until the state of their union is misery.

Can destiny be undone? In the hands of the international bestselling author Alexandra Potter, You’re (Not) the One is a witty romance that turns on the power of a kiss.

When Bridget Jones’ Diary came out in the 90’s, women were scooping up any “chick lit” novels they could get their hands on. I was one of them. If it was a whimsical tale about a single girl “looking for love” with often disastrous (but humorous) results, I was hooked. Then the genre started to become over saturated and the quality of the stories started lacking. The characters became slightly transparent and the plots were predictable. YOU’RE (NOT) THE ONE by Alexandra Potter is chick lit, there is no doubt about it, but it is so light-hearted, enjoyable and well-written that it reminds me of why I loved the genre to begin with and should not be overlooked.

Lucy is a romantic and when she thinks she has found her soulmate in Nate, she really wants to believe in the magic and enduring power of love. But when true love begins to resemble misery, Lucy must do whatever it takes to undo what has been done.

YOU’RE (NOT) THE ONE is a fun book, with a likable main character and a cute, slightly magical plot. I really enjoyed this book and think it is a great read for the busy, hectic holiday season. It’s the perfect book to read in the bathtub, curled up by a fire or in a cozy bed after a long day.
