The Return of The Babysitters Club

babysitterclubToday the New York Times ran an article by Motoko Rich about the return of The Babysitters Club by Ann M. Martin, a series of books that a large majority of women today remember as one of their early childhood favorites. Scholastic is even trying to revive the series by creating a prequel. I remember reading these books for what seemed like forever and with the article stating that there were 213 books in the series, I can confirm that the series did run FOREVER.

I remember passing these books around with my friends, feverishly reading each new release the day they came out, at one point I think I even started my own Babysitting Club with some friends. Reading these books would prove to be a precursor to the popularity and frequency of book clubs in my life and the lives of many women today.  There is nothing better than trading books with good friends, talking about lives that seem to jump off the page and a story that keeps getting better with every read.
