“I still never finish a book without being terrified I can’t write another one. I never start one without being terrified I can’t finish it,” Danielle Steel says. “It’s sort of a torturous process.”  It is shocking to hear these words from one of the most famous writers of our time. Although much of her work is quickly dismissed and looked down on by the literary world, it can’t be denied that the woman has staying power and can keep her readers coming back for more. According to a recent AP piece featured on Yahoo!, Danielle Steel hates the spotlight. “I hate having the spotlight on me. I hate being the focus of attention. I like being the invisible observer. So this is very painful.”

This coming from the woman who has 570 million of her books in print and holds the Guinness World Record for having at least one book on the Times list for 390 consecutive weeks.
