We recently received Kevin Brockmeier’s new short story collection, The View from the Seventh Layer, and Adam Mansbach’s debut novel, The End of the Jews from Random House. Brockmeier skillfully combines the real and surreal, for example he takes elements from a Chekhov story and sets it in outer space. Mansbach has been getting rave reviews for his debut novel about a young Jewish writer in the 1930s in the Bronx, who becomes a Phillip Roth-type writer and his hip-hop loving Jewish grandson.
