Amazon.com is hosting the “Best Book Covers of 2009″ contest. They are also listing the best books of the year according to editors, customers, etc. Because I am such a big fiction reader, I was particularly interested in their nominees for the best fiction covers of 2009. My vote went with Colum McCann’s LET THE GREAT WORLD SPIN. If it’s something I would like to hang on my wall and carry around in my bag, then it has to be a great cover!

I am so excited to give away this book! It is called America: The Making of a Nation by Charlie Samuels (Little Brown). It is a book for young readers but let me tell you, it is an incredibly informative and beautifully illustrated history of our country that people of ALL ages can appreciate. I just love this book! It’s filled with anecdotes, historical snapshots and lift-the-flap discoveries. What better time to explore our country than at this particular moment in our nation’s history.
