This Is Not The Story You Think It Is...by Laura Munson

Laura Munson’s private journey took its’ first step into the public spotlight when she wrote a Modern Love piece for The New York Times in July of last year. Now her very private story of the rocky road her marriage endured has been elaborated and detailed in a beautiful debut book.

Munson is the definition of persistence paying off. She wrote 14 novels and could not get one published. But she didn’t take no for an answer. She persisted. Her husband told her he wasn’t in love with her anymore and she didn’t buy it. She continued on with their relationship and told him, in not so many words, to go figure things out.

Heather Havrilesky wrote a great piece for Salon on the book and The Huffington Post interviewed Laura.

Many readers might object to Laura’s desire to stay in a marriage when her husband tells her he no longer loves her, but who can judge the personal dynamics of the heart? And the fact that they are still happily together today should quiet the skeptics.

What I do know is that this book is absorbing and beautifully written. Persistence pays off.
